Focus on natural materials

One of the features of the Scandinavian style in life and in the interior is environmental friendliness. It promotes waste recycling, rejection of unnecessary elements in the house and everything that is not natural and harmful to the environment. Therefore, plastic or polyester, popular today in furniture and decor, should be replaced with organic wood, stone, or linen or wool. They last longer and are safe for health.

Do not be afraid to add color accents

Although Scandinavian style is mostly minimalistic, it doesn't have to be done in stereotypical black and white. When choosing a palette of tones for the home, it is worth focusing on the environment. Muted shades of green, dark blue and gray in combination with milk and light brown will create coziness in your home. But do not be afraid to add accents, remembering that the basis of the Scandinavian style is simplicity and unobtrusiveness.

Furniture in the Scandinavian style should be ergonomic and compact. It is best when they take up little space, but can hide clothes, shoes, bedding and various accessories. In order to visually adhere to the Scandinavian style, you should give preference to plain textures, because printed furniture can disrupt the harmony. Also, pay attention to the quality of the products and evaluate how long they will last. Any succulents, seasonal fresh flowers or massive vases will complement the room in the Scandinavian style. Small plants or bouquets can be used to decorate the surface of a table, chest of drawers or sideboard shelves, and larger pots should be placed on the floor.

Provide warm lighting

Warm tones in the Scandinavian style are inherent not only in fabrics or walls, but also in lighting. Correctly placed shadows play an important role in creating coziness.

  • Add lighting from wall and hanging lamps and floor lamps.
  • Do not forget about daylight: large windows without tulle and curtains are a must-have of a modern Scandinavian-style home.
  • Add candlesticks, vases for flowers or paintings and other details.
  • Do not overload the walls with fancy tiles, instead prefer a monochrome color.

Scandinavian style is not only about natural materials and basic colors. It is about a well-ordered consciousness and an understanding of why to create an interior in a house that is focused on environmental friendliness and long-term use. The main thing in the Scandinavian style is balance. Therefore, it can be easily supplemented with non-characteristic details, keeping in mind harmony and functionality.
